The Manila Center for Young Adults (MCYA) was the pioneer project
of the Foundation for Adolescent Development Inc. Established in
1985, it has the unique mission of providing adolescents and young
adults with correct information, value formation/clarification and
services on health and sexuality. MCYA provides a comprehensive
package of services on adolescent health and sexuality among students
in some 30 colleges and universities in Manilas University
Belt area.
As a resource
center, the MCYA offers the following:
- Training
in peer counseling, life planning education, leadership
and team building
- Provision
of technical assistance on adolescent health, sexuality
and development
- School symposia
on adolescent health, sexuality and development
and HIV/AIDS issues
- Practicum
for psychology and social work students
The MCYA is
also a youth-friendly facility where adolescents can avail of:
- Face to face
counseling and referral
- Video showing
and focus group discussions on adolescent issues
and HIV/AIDS
- A library
specializing on adolescent issues and HIV/AIDS
- An activity
area conducive to dance and play rehearsal
