he Cervical Cancer Prevention (CECAP) Network Program, in collaboration with Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University and UP-Manila – Philippine General Hospital is working to eliminate cervical cancer among Filipino women. The Cancer Institute Foundation, Inc. shares in this mission and works with CECAP in their present activities. CECAP is committed to empower Filipino women against cervical cancer by increasing their awareness about the disease and providing them access to treatments.

To win the fight against cervical cancer CECAP aims to:

  1. Promote healthy lifestyle through education and information campaigns
  2. Conduct training on cervical cancer prevention with emphasis on screening through Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) linked to treatment (cryotherapy) in a SVA
  3. Undertake research on cervical cancer prevention including other effective and practical screening methods and country preparedness for HPV vaccination

CECAP is also striving to develop centers of excellence for service, training, and research for healthcare providers and advocates.  This center shall be a model for the prevention of cervical cancer especially for the underserved.

CECAP Program Objectives

  1. Increase country readiness for implementation of expanded cervical cancer prevention and control efforts
  2. Build capability to sustain and expand large-scale, coordinated cervical cancer prevention efforts
  3. Expand access to high quality SVA (VIA and cryotherapy) at quality assured facilities and improve program performance
  4. Undertake research on country preparedness for HPV vaccination
